Avicularia purpurea (Kirk, 1990)

Purple pink toe (arboreal)

Habitat: Ecuador (NW / urticating hairs)

Body length: ~ 5 cm

Longevity: ♀ ~ 12 years, ♂ ~ 4 years

With a body length of approx. 5 cm, this species is one of the smaller representatives of Avicularia. The color is very dark, but in the right light a wonderful purple-blue reveals itself! This species originally comes from the Amazon rainforest, where it prefers to inhabit trees. Like all representatives of this type, care should be taken to ensure adequate ventilation and a little moisture, whereby wetness is to be avoided! The picture below shows an animal in second instar, the coloration differs from the adult animal.
