Idiothele mira (Gallon, 2010)

Blue-foot baboon / Trap-door tarantula (terrestrial)

Habitat: South Africa (OW)

Body length: ~ 3 cm

Longevity: ♀ ~ 10 years, ♂ ~ 3 years

While females can reach a body length of around 3 cm, males can only manage half. This species usually likes it slightly damp, the enclosure should not dry out. In nature it lives in stony terrain, where she creates pipes and usually closes them with a trap door. So she then also hunts by snatching prey passing by the trap door. With the star pattern on the carapace and the beautiful coloring, it is a real feast for the eyes! The lower leg segments are somewhat bluish in color.
