Neoholothele incei

Trinidad olive tarantula

Habitat: Trinidad and Venezuela

Type: terrestrial (fossorial)

Longevity: ♂ ~ 2 years / ♀ ~ 7 years

Body size without legs (cm/in): ~ 3/1,2

This dwarf species is one of the fastest we own. They can bolt like crazy. You can also read in the internet, that they´re aggressive. We never noticed that, but they will hide when they feel threatened.

Often you can see their legs at the entrance of their web, but with the slightest vibrations they withdraw completely into their tubes. These animals grow very quickly, males are adult after less than a year, females after about one and a half years. There is an olive colored variant and a golden one. These can be paired with each other. We currently keep three animals in a community, each animal setting up its own camp in the terrarium. It is important to ensure that the animals have sufficient feed, otherwise cannibalism can occur.
