Tapinauchenius violaceus
(Schmidt, 1995)
Purple treespider (arboreal)
Guyana, Brazil
~ 5 cm bodylength
Longevity: 10 ~ ? years, ♂ ~ 4 years
Since a revision in 2008, this arboreal species has been called Tapinauchenius violaceus (previously T. purpureus). Visually a feast for the eyes, but nervous and withdrawn. This genus is generally very fast, and if there is no way to escape, this spider will also face the enemy.
