The distribution area of ​​this beautiful and large wolf spider species is limited to the Portuguese island of Porto Santo. It reaches a body length of up to 3 cm (males remain smaller) and is fast. The animal cannot climb smooth surfaces. After successful matings, the animals can build up to three egg sacks. The orange front of the front legs is striking. Until January 2022, this species was known as Hogna schmitzi.
