Mexican red knee (terrestrial)
Mexico
~ 7 cm bodylength
Longevity: ♀ ~ 25 years, ♂ ~ 5 years

Probably the best-known tarantula on the planet: Brachypelma hamorii, which was often kept as Brachypelma smithi in the hobby before a revision in 2017, is both a great spider visually and rather undemanding in its care. It grows like a stone and, as it grows, can sometimes disappear underground for a while. As a rule, this species is calm and peaceful, yet it has no place in human hands.
